What is STEMBox.io?

STEMBox.io is a comprehensive STEM education resource covering Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We offer interactive visualizations, AI-generated study materials (study guides, quizzes, tests), deep dives into mathematical identities and scientific concepts, and tools like calculators and explorers to help you learn.

Is STEMBox.io free to use?

Right now, accessing our content and tools is free. To generate AI study materials (study guides, quizzes, tests, and packets), you need to bring your own OpenAI API key. We use it only for your requests and do not store your key in plain text. This may change in the future—we may offer options that don't require a personal API key.

Do I need an OpenAI API key?

You only need an OpenAI API key if you want to generate study materials (study guides, quizzes, tests) or use the AI problem solver. Browsing subjects, identities, explorers, and tools does not require a key. We support bring‑your‑own‑key; your key is encrypted and used solely for your requests.

Will I always need my own API key?

Our current model is bring‑your‑own OpenAI key for generation. We may introduce plans in the future where you can generate materials without a personal key. Check our FAQ and site updates for changes.

What can I generate with AI?

You can generate study guides, quizzes, and tests for specific subjects and topics. You can also create a “Complete Study Packet” that includes all three (study guide, quiz, test) in one go. Generation is powered by OpenAI and respects your chosen subject, topic, and difficulty.

What subjects and topics are available?

We cover Mathematics (e.g. algebra, calculus, complex analysis) and Science (e.g. biology, chemistry, physics, astrophysics). Each subject has curated topics. Technology and Engineering sections are coming soon. Use the homepage or field pages to explore subjects and topics.

What are the Interactive Explorers?

The Explorers are interactive tools that visualize connections between mathematical identities, constants, and variables. You can explore relationships, switch view modes, and use them alongside our other learning resources. Find them from the Explorer hub or the footer tools.

How do I report an error or give feedback?

Use the “Report issue” button on most content and explorer pages. You’ll be asked to sign in, choose an issue type, and add a description. We use this to fix errors and improve the site.

Where is my generated content stored?

Study materials you generate are stored in your account and shown in “My Generated Content” (via the user menu). You can view, edit, copy, download, and regenerate them. We treat your data according to our Privacy Policy.

Can I use STEMBox.io on mobile?

Yes. The site is responsive and works on phones and tablets. Some interactive tools (e.g. calculators, explorers) are optimized for larger screens but remain usable on mobile.

How do I delete my generated content?

Open “My Generated Content,” select an item, and use the delete option. You can also delete all content for a given tab. Deletion is permanent.

What is the Service Status page?

The Status page shows the health of our main services (database, Redis, OpenAI, queue/worker). It’s useful for checking if generation or other features are temporarily unavailable. You can reach it from the footer.

Are there rate limits?

We apply rate limits on generation and other APIs to keep the service stable. Exact limits can vary. If you hit them, wait a moment and try again. Using your own API key does not bypass our application rate limits.

How can I stay updated on new features?

Watch for announcements on the site and in our footer links (e.g. Mission, Legal, FAQ). We may add newsletters or notifications in the future.

Who runs STEMBox.io?

STEMBox.io is run by a small team focused on making STEM education accessible and engaging. Our mission is to help learners explore fundamental concepts through interactive tools and clear explanations. See our Mission page for more.
